For the fourth year in a row, the White Buffalo Calf Woman Society. Inc.  Sponsor their Annual Dog Show at the 4-H grounds in Mission this past April. Under the motto “Animal abuse is Family violence”, more than 30 brie's, all sizes and ages participants and their owners showcased their agility, talents, tricks and much more in what it was an entire afternoon of family fun.

The show was held not only to provide a great venue for a family activity, but also to promote healthy relationships between pets and their owners. Violence and abuse does not only affect human relationships, but also exists between humans and their pets. “It is important for parents to understand that what their kids see at home is what they will do as adults. If a child sees you abusing your pet, they may think that it is okay! A child that abuses a pet has a higher chance of becoming an abusive adult.

In a survey conducted by Utah State University based on sheltered women and children, the data reveled that most of these women and children speak of animal cruelty or abuse in some form in the household, especially as a tool to keep those under the abusers control scared and submissive.

The awards included Best Vocal Performance, Best Looking, Best Tail Wagging, most Obedient, Least Obedient, Best Personality, Most Glamorous, and Most Adorable Personality.

We would like to recognize all participants and their beloved pets for coming out and supporting our effort in promoting non-violence.
