Over 60 people participated on the 23rd annual “National Day of Unity Awareness Walk” this passed October 6th in Rosebud, SD.

The walk started at the IHS  hospital in Rosebud and ended at the Tribal Building with  a few words from vice president Willie Kindle and a gift presented by Nichole Witt, WBCWS’s Grant Manager, as a token of appreciation for the administrations support.

The caravan of participants made several stops on their way to the Tribal  Building from the IHS hospital: RST Law Enforcement and Tribal Court building were visited; Spotted Tail cemetery was next, to finally arrive at the RST Tribal building.

All individuals within a community are responsible for providing safety to women and children and holding the batterer accountable for their actions.

It is time for us all to remember those who have lost their lives to domestic Violence, to share the joy of those who survived, and now more than ever to collaborate and support all of those in turtle island that stride to end violence among us.
