Text Box: During the month of October, 2007 domestic violence survivors and supporters joined together across America to promote victims’ rights and services, and to educate our communities about the devastating impact of violence on victims, neighborhoods, schools and the Sicangu Nation as a whole.

Text Box: In observance of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the White Buffalo Calf Woman Society, Inc. collaborated with the South Dakota coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault to hold their first State wide DV conference in Rapid City, SD.

The SCASDV provided domestic violence and sexual assault training to the RST Police Department this past October at the Veterans building in Rosebud, SD. The coalition provides a number of trainings through out the year not only to law enforcement, but also to first responders and health care professionals in Rosebud Reservation IHS and other clinics.

Text Box: During October, the White Buffalo Calf Woman Society, Inc. urged the community members on the Rosebud Reservation to join forces with millions nation wide and extend their support to those battling breast cancer and the families and friends of those affected by it.

Over 100 people participated on the 21st annual “National Day of Unity Awareness Walk” this passed October 4th in Rosebud, SD. The walk started at the IHS hospital in Rosebud and ended at the Tribal Building with president Bordeaux reading an executive proclamations declaring October as DV awareness month.
