General Information

Historically, the White Buffalo Calf Woman Society has collaborated with tribal and state law enforcement since they opened their doors in 1977. This year the Mellette County Sheriff Department, the State’s Attorney, and the WBCWS joined forces once again in a collaborative effort that will benefit the communities of Mellette County. With WBCWS funds, the Sheriff Department was able to purchase the camera systems for their patrol cars shown in the picture bellow, as well as the much needed CAD computer system. These upgrades will provide deputies with instant and up to date information on all court documents issued in their county, as well as the entire state. Previously, deputies would have to wait for this information to come via regular mail, endangering women and their safety.
